In the Old Testament I read some verses that describe how when harvesting crops, if something is left unharvested, it is to be left for the poor, the stranger or the orphen. Deut. 24:19-21 "When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the awidow: that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands. When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow. When thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean it afterward: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow."

In the Book of Mormon I read that the Lord speaks to more nations than one. He spoke to the Jews who wrote the Bible and He spoke to the Nephites who wrote the Book of Mormon, and the two nations together can both bear testimony of Jesus Christ. Just because we have a Bible doesn't mean that it contains ALL the words of God--more can and was written by other peoples, and they are the words of God also. God does speak during one time period and then stop talking. He's the same yesterday, today, and forever, and we need His words today just as much as the ancient people did. 2 Ne. 29: 8-10 "Wherefore murmur ye, because that ye shall receive more of my word? Know ye not that the testimony of two nations is a witness unto you that I am God, that I remember one nation like unto another? Wherefore, I speak the same words unto one nation like unto another. And when the two nations shall run together the testimony of the two nations shall run together also. And I do this that I may prove unto many that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and that I speak forth my words according to mine own pleasure. And because that I have spoken one word ye need not suppose that I cannot speak another; for my work is not yet finished; neither shall it be until the end of man, neither from that time henceforth and forever. Wherefore, because that ye have a Bible ye need not suppose that it contains all my words; neither need ye suppose that I have not caused more to be written."

Some verses with a thought booklet tells us that the Lord is our strength and we have no need to fear. We can be confident even when the wicked rise up against us, as long as we have the Lord on our side. Ps. 27: 1-3 "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident."
