In the Old Testament I read about how Elijan went to Ahab and testified against him for his wickedness, telling him the horrible things that would befall him and his wife Jezebel. There was none that was so wicked as Ahab. 1 Kings 21: 17-25 "And the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he is gone down to possess it. And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the Lord, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the Lord, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine. And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found thee: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the Lord. Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, And will make thine house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked me to anger, and made Israel to sin. And of Jezebel also spake the Lord, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel. Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat. But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the Lord, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up."
In the Book of Mormon I read that wo shall come to those who spurn at the doings of the Lord, who deny Christ or His works, or who say that the Lord no longer works through revelations or prophecy or through the power of the Holy Ghost. 3 Ne. 29: 5-6 "Wo unto him that spurneth at the doings of the Lord; yea, wo unto him that shall deny the Christ and his works! Yea, awo unto him that shall deny the revelations of the Lord, and that shall say the Lord no longer worketh by revelation, or by prophecy, or by gifts, or by tongues, or by healings, or by the power of the Holy Ghost!"
Some scriptures with a thought booklet talk about how if we believe in Jesus Christ, we'll have the Spirit of the Holy Ghost given to us, which shall be like rivers of living water flowing. The thought that went with this, written by Marion Turnbull from Manchester, England said: We lived near a river in Buckingham, United Kingdom, called the Great Ouse. Sadly, some people throw rubbish into the river. Thick, entangling weeds gather around old bicylcles and car tires, choking the flow, and all kinds of debris build up, killing fish and wildlife. So now and then, local people meet to clear out the rubbish. Then the river can flow again, as it flushes out the dirt and debris. Jesus promised to give us living water and Christians know the flow of the Holy Spirit in our hearts. I also know times when that river seems to slow to a trickle, and realize again that I have allowed other things to fill up my heart and thoughts. It takes a little effort to remove the junk from my life, but then the River of God flows again, cleansing and healing. O Living Water, show me what is obstructing my soul that I may clean it out and enjoy the flow of your Spirit again. John 7: 38-39 "He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)"
