In the Old Testament I read about why Saul died--for his transgressions and inquiring after one who had a familiar spirit instead of after the Lord. 1 Chr. 10: 13-14 "So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the Lord, even against the word of the Lord, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it; And enquired not of the Lord: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse."
In the D&C I read that in the last days there would be wars and rumors of war, the earth would be in commotion, people would say that Christ delayed His coming, iniquity shall abound, and the love of many would wax cold. Sounds like our day, doesn't it? D&C 45: 26-27 "And in athat day shall be heard of wars and rumors of wars, and the whole earth shall be in commotion, and men's hearts shall fail them, and they shall say that Christ delayeth his coming until the end of the earth. And the love of men shall wax cold, and iniquity shall abound."
Some verses with a thought booklet tell us to give thanks to the Lord and call upon His name. We shoule remember and tell other people about all His wondrous works, and seek after the Lord. Ps. 105: 1-5 "O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works. Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. Seek the Lord, and his strength: seek his face evermore. Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;"
