Daily Thoughts

In the Old Testament it tells us that idols cannot see, hear, nor speak, and are made by men's hands. How silly to trust in something like that! We may not be worshipping the kind of idols they did in ancient days, but do we place our trust in things just as silly--money and the things it can buy? Ps. 135: 15-18 "The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not; They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths. They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them."

In the Book of Mormon I read some wonderful verses that say we need to talk of Christ, preach of Christ, and rejoice of Christ so that our children will know where to look for a remission of their sins. We need to speak plainly so as to not only be understood, but so as to not be misunderstood. We need to teach the right way, which is to believe in Christ and not deny Him. We need to worship Him with our whole might, mind, strength, and soul. If we do this, we won't be cast out. 2 Ne. 25: 26, 28-29 "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins. And now behold, my people, ye are a stiffnecked people; wherefore, I have spoken plainly unto you, that ye cannot misunderstand. And the words which I have spoken shall stand as a testimony against you; for they are sufficient to teach any man the right way; for the right way is to believe in Christ and deny him not; for by denying him ye also deny the prophets and the law. And now behold, I say unto you that the right way is to believe in Christ, and deny him not; and Christ is the Holy One of Israel; wherefore ye must bow down before him, and worship him with all your might, mind, and strength, and your whole soul; and if ye do this ye shall in nowise be cast out."

A verse with a thought bookle tells us that the Lord will give us strength and bless us with peace. Ps. 29: 11 "The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace."
