In the Old Testament it talks about the greatness of God and how He is worthy of all the praise we can give Him. Ps. 145: 1-5 "I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. One ageneration shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works."
In the Book of Mormon we're told that God is the same yesterday, today and forever and that He is still a God a miracles--performing miracles according to the faith of the children of men. In other words, if we don't have miracles in our lives like the people in ancient scriptures had, it's not because God has changed, it's because we're lacking in faith. 2 Ne. 27: 23 "For behold, I am God; and I am a God of miracles; and I will show unto the world that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and I work not among the children of men save it be according to their faith."
Some verses with a thought booklet talk about people whose hearts are so hard that their ears are dull of hearing and their eyes are closed when it comes to hearing and seeing the things of God that could convert them and heal them. They are not able to understand the things of God because their hearts are not right and they really don't want to understand. Matt. 13: 13-15 "Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them."
