Daily Thoughts

In the Old Testament I read that we should not be hasty to be angry because anger rests in the bosoms of fools. Eccl. 7: 9 "Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools."

In the Book of Mormon I read a couple of verses that bring up an interesting point--that when Lamoni taught the doctrines to the people that Ammon had taught him, as many as heard him were converted and believed. However, many would not hear his words and went on their way. Isn't it sad that some people turn away from the truth and refuse to hear it? We need to make sure we don't do this. Do we read our scriptures every day? Do we attend church every Sunday and really listen to what is being said? Do we put aside whatever else we may have to do so we can watch all the sessions of general conference twice a year? Do we put hearing the Word of God at the top of our priority list? Let's make sure we're not turning away when we could be feasting on the Word of God. Alma 19: 31-32 "And he, immediately, seeing the contention among his people, went forth and began to rebuke them, and to teach them the words which he had heard from the mouth of Ammon; and as many as heard his words believed, and were converted unto the Lord. But there were many among them who would not hear his words; therefore they went their way."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us that young lions may suffer hunger, but if we seek the Lord, we won't want for any good thing. Ps. 34: 10 "The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing."
