Daily Thoughts

In the Old Testament I read about how judgments of destruction would come upon Elam. Jer. 49: 34-37 "The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might. And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come. For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce anger, saith the Lord; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them:"

In the Book of Mormon we read that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever and that spiritual gifts shall never be done away, except because of the unbelief of man. And if things things are done away because of unbelief, wo unto the children of men! Anyone who does good will be able to work by the power and gifts of God. Moro. 10: 19, 24-25 "And I would exhort you, my beloved brethren, that ye remember that he is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and that all these gifts of which I have spoken, which are spiritual, never will be done away, even as long as the world shall stand, only according to the unbelief of the children of men. And now I speak unto all the ends of the earth—that if the day cometh that the power and gifts of God shall be done away among you, it shall be because of unbelief. And wo be unto the children of men if this be the case; for there shall be none that doeth good among you, no not one. For if there be one among you that doeth good, he shall work by the power and gifts of God."

Some verses with a thought booklet give us wonderful advice on how we should live. We need to speak the truth and put away lying. Can we be angry and not sin? No! We should not let the sun set upon wrath. We shouldn't give place to the devil. We should work, laboring with or own hands. We shold not allow corrupt communication to come out of our mouths, which wold grieve the Holy Spirit. We need to get rid of all bitterness, anger, malice, and evil speaking. And finally we need to be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving of one another. Boy, a lot of things here that I think we all need to improve on! But something to keep in mind is that by being more kind and loving toward others and avoiding anger or doing things to hurt others, we'll find much more joy ourselves! Eph. 4: 25-32 "Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."
