In the Book of Mormon I read about how the Lord commanded Nephi to build a ship. Nephi inquired about where to find ore to make tools and proceeded to get to work and make fire. When the Lord commanded him to do something, he got busy and did it. 1 Ne. 17: 8-11 "And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto me, saying: Thou shalt construct a ship, after the manner which I shall show thee, that I may carry thy people across these waters. And I said: Lord, whither shall I go that I may find ore to molten, that I may make tools to construct the ship after the manner which thou hast shown unto me? And it came to pass that the Lord told me whither I should go to find ore, that I might make tools. And it came to pass that I, Nephi, did make a bellows wherewith to blow the fire, of the skins of beasts; and after I had made a bellows, that I might have wherewith to blow the fire, I did smite two stones together that I might make fire."
In the New Testament I read about the conversation Jesus had with His disciples right before He was taken up into heaven. He told them that what the ancient prophets had prohesied about had been fulfilled and He opened their understanding to what the scriptures say. He told them that they needed to preach repentance to all nations and teach the people that He had suffered for their sins and had overcome death and been resurrected from the dead on the third day. They were witnesses to these things! And they had been endued with power from on high. After Jesus blessed them, He ascended up into heaven. Luke 24:44-51 "And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven."
Some verses with a thought booklet tell us that if we love one another, we'll fulfill the law and keep the other commandments, such as not killing, stealing, bearing false witness, committing adultary, or coveting. If we truly love other people are we going to steal from them or bear false witness against them? Or are we going to unselfishly want what is best for them and do what we can to serve them and make their lives easier? Love is truly the key to keeping the commandments. Romans 13:8-10 "Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law."
