In the Book of Mormon I read about how those who do not hearken to the counsels of the Lord set Him at naught and
trample Him under their feet. We should place great worth on the counsels of the Lord and make sure we listen and
obey. 1 Ne. 19: 7 "For the things which some men esteem to be of great worth, both to the body and soul, others
set at naught and trample under their feet. Yea, even the very God of Israel do men trample under their feet; I say,
trample under their feet but I would speak in other words—they set him at naught, and hearken not to the voice of his counsels."
In the New Testament I read a very important commandment--that we love one another as Jesus has loved us. This is how we can tell a true disciple of Christ--they show love one to another. I remember one time years ago I was looking at a "Christian" discussion board online. All it consisted of was people from different denominations arguing with each other about points of doctrine and criticizing each other for differences in their beliefs. I remember posting a message with this scripture verse on the discussion board, but it didn't seem to make them miss a beat, even though I asked them, "What would a non Christian think if they came to this board wondering what Christianity was all about, and seeing you all being hateful and argumentative with each other? " Being a true Christian is all about love, and how kind we are to others. If someone were to examine your life and how you treat others, would they be able to recognize you as a follower of Christ? John 13:34-35 "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."
A verse with a thought booklet goes right along with this, telling us that we need to have unity and love toward one another, and if we do this, we'll have joy. Philippians 2:2 "Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind."
