In the New Testament I read that the gospel is not of man, but of God. And we are taught it by revelation from God. This is why we need to have the Spirit with us if we are to teach the gospel. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ."
A verse in a thought booklet says we should delight in the commandments and love them. Do we do this? Do we look upon commandments as restrictions we hate and wish we could disregard them? Or do we look upon commandments as things the Lord has instructed us to do because they're for our best good and will make us happy? It's like the story of the man who resented the seatbelt law and hated how it restricted him, but grudgingly buckled up because he was tired of paying fines for breaking the law. Then one day he was in an accidcent where his car rolled several times and his life was saved because he had his seatbelt on. Suddenly he realized that the law was for his protection and best good, and he no longer resented it. We need to look on the commandments this way--knowing they're there for our best good and to protect us. Then we can truly learn to love the commandments and delight in them. Psalms 119:47 "And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved."
