In the Book of Mormon we read about the awful state of the proud and wicked. Wo unto them for they shall be thrust down to hell! Those are pretty strong words! They preach false doctrines and try to pervert the right way of the Lord. They revile against the word of God and say it is of no worth. However, if they repent of their wickedness, they will not be destroyed. 2 Ne. 28: 14-17 "They wear stiff necks and high heads; yea, and because of pride, and wickedness, and abominations, and whoredoms, they have all gone astray save it be a few, who are the humble followers of Christ; nevertheless, they are led, that in many instances they do err because they are taught by the precepts of men. O the wise, and the learned, and the rich, that are puffed up in the pride of their hearts, and all those who preach false doctrines, and all those who commit whoredoms, and pervert the right way of the Lord, wo, wo, wo be unto them, saith the Lord God Almighty, for they shall be thrust down to hell! Wo unto them that turn aside the just for a thing of naught and revile against that which is good, and say that it is of no worth! For the day shall come that the Lord God will speedily visit the inhabitants of the earth; and in that day that they are fully ripe in iniquity they shall perish. But behold, if the inhabitants of the earth shall repent of their wickedness and abominations they shall not be destroyed, saith the Lord of Hosts."
In the New Testament we're told to "rejoice evermore." So being joyful is actually something we're commanded to do in the scriptures--and not just during good times or when things are going well, but evermore. And how are we supposed to do that? How are we supposed to find joy in life even when going through trials and tribulations? Perhaps the next verse gives us a key to that. We're told to pray without ceasing. Perhaps continually turning to our Heavenly Father in prayer is what will bring us joy, even during difficult times. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 "Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing."
Some verses with a thought booklet shows Jesus teaching his disciples that even though princes exercise dominion and authority over others, we should instead seek to serve and minister to those aornd us. We need to follow the example of our Savior who came not to be ministered unto, but to give His life for us. Matthew 20:25-28 "But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many."
