In the Book of Mormon we read that it was necessary that Christ be baptized to fulfill all righteousness. Now if it was necessary that He be baptized, even though He was without sin, how much more important is it for us to be baptized? 2 Ne. 31: 4-5 "Wherefore, I would that ye should remember that I have spoken unto you concerning that prophet which the Lord showed unto me, that should baptize the Lamb of God, which should take away the sins of the world. And now, if the Lamb of God, he being holy, should have need to be baptized by water, to fulfil all righteousness, O then, how much more need have we, being unholy, to be baptized, yea, even by water!"
In the New Testament we read that God doesn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. So when we're feeling fearful, we can know that that is not coming from God. We can turn to Him for strength and help in time of trouble. Faith casts out fear. 2 Timotny 1:7 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
A verse with a thought booklet tells us that the Lord lead the Israelites with a pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night. These provided landmarkts to people traveling in unfamiliar territory. Likewise, when we are in unfamiliar situations--perhaps a new job or relationship, or a challenging situation where we're not sure which way to turn, we can look to the Lord for guidance and direction. Prayer and scripture study can provide spiritual landmarks to show us the way, just like the pillars of clouds and fire guided the ancient Israelites on their journey. Exodus 13:21 "And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:"
