Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon I read that Jacob labored diligently with the people, trying to persuade them to come unto Christ and partake of the goodness of God. He did what he could to teach them to believe in Christ and fulfill what his brother Nephi had commanded him to do. Jacob 1: 7-8 "Wherefore we labored diligently among our people, that we might persuade them to come unto Christ, and partake of the goodness of God, that they might enter into his rest, lest by any means he should swear in his wrath they should not enter in, as in the provocation in the days of temptation while the children of Israel were in the wilderness. Wherefore, we would to God that we could persuade all men not to rebel against God, to provoke him to anger, but that all men would believe in Christ, and view his death, and suffer his cross and bear the shame of the world; wherefore, I, Jacob, take it upon me to fulfil the commandment of my brother Nephi."

In the New Testament we read that Jesus suffered every temptation so he is able to succour us when we are tempted. He knows what we're going through! He understands. There is no temptation we could be tempted with that He wasn't also tempted with. But He resisted them all, and with His help, we can too. Hebrews 2:18 "For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted."

Some verses with a thought booklet tell us that as far as it possible, we should live peaceably with all men. That's a lot easier to do with some men than others, but we need to do the best we can with ALL men. We need to be honest with everyone and not retaliate when people are evil toward us. Romans 12:17-18 "Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men."
