Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon we read that Jacob was able to confound Sherem in all his words because he had the Spirit with him. Sherem claimed to believe in the scriptures, but denied that Jesus Christ would come. However, Jacob pointed out that the scriptures truly testify of Jesus Christ and all the prophets have testified of him. Indeed, if it were not for the atonement of Christ, all mankind would be lost. Jacob 7:8-12 "But behold, the Lord God poured in his Spirit into my soul, insomuch that I did confound him in all his words. And I said unto him: Deniest thou the Christ who shall come? And he said: If there should be a Christ, I would not deny him; but I know that there is no Christ, neither has been, nor ever will be. And I said unto him: Believest thou the scriptures? And he said, Yea. And I said unto him: Then ye do not understand them; for they truly testify of Christ. Behold, I say unto you that none of the prophets have written, nor prophesied, save they have spoken concerning this Christ. And this is not all—it has been made manifest unto me, for I have heard and seen; and it also has been made manifest unto me by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, I know if there should be no atonement made all mankind must be lost."

In the New Testament I read that we need to let our brotherly love continue and don't forget to show kindness to strangers. We may be entertaining strangers unawares. Hebrews 13:1-2 "Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us that we can put our trust under the shadow of God's wings, for His loving kindness is excellent. He loves us! He is our ultimate refuge and source of goodness. In His unfailing love, He provides for us. And we can safely trust in His protecting care. Psalms 36:7 "How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their atrust under the shadow of thy wings."
