Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon I read that those who die in their sins and who have rebelled against God will have no part in the first resurrection and have every reason to fear and tremble. Those who knew the commandments of God but chose to disregard them will not be redeemed. Now is the time for us to repent, before it is everlastingly too late! Mosiah 15:26-27 "But behold, and fear, and tremble before God, for ye ought to tremble; for the Lord redeemeth none such that rebel against him and die in their sins; yea, even all those that have perished in their sins ever since the world began, that have wilfully rebelled against God, that have known the commandments of God, and would not keep them; these are they that have no part in the first resurrection. Therefore ought ye not to tremble? For salvation cometh to none such; for the Lord hath redeemed none such; yea, neither can the Lord redeem such; for he cannot deny himself; for he cannot deny justice when it has its claim."

In the Old Testament I read about how Jacob and Laban made a covenant of peace with each other, making a heap of stones and promising that neither one would cross that heap to cause harm to the other. Wouldn't it be nice if modern nations could solve their problems like this instead of going to war? Genesis 31:51-52 "And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold this pillar, which I have cast betwixt me and thee; This heap be witness, and this pillar be witness, that I will not pass over this heap to thee, and that thou shalt not pass over this heap and this pillar unto me, for harm."

Some verses with a thought booklet emphasize the importance of love. In order to be born of God and know God, we must love one another. We can't possibly love God but hate our brother. If we don't love others, we don't know God because love is what God is all about! We need to love as Christ loves and serve as He serves. 1 John 4:7-8, 20-21 "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also."
