Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon we read that Alma established a church in Sidom and began to baptize people. However, the people in the land of Ammonihah remained hard hearted and wicked, refusing to believe in repentance of their sins.  Alma 15:13-15 "And Alma established a church in the land of Sidom, and consecrated priests and teachers in the land, to baptize unto the Lord whosoever were desirous to be baptized. And it came to pass that they were many; for they did flock in from all the region round about Sidom, and were baptized. But as to the people that were in the land of Ammonihah, they yet remained a hard-hearted and a stiffnecked people; and they repented not of their sins, ascribing all the power of Alma and Amulek to the devil; for they were of the profession of Nehor, and did not believe in the repentance of their sins."

In the Old Testament I read that we need to keep the Sabbath Day holy.  We can do work on six days, but on the seventh day, the Sabbath, no work should be done. This commandments is repeated many times in the scriptures, so it must be very important indeed.  Leviticus 23:3 "Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us that even though we may walk in the midst of trouble, the Lord will preserve us and deliver us.   Psalms 138:7 "Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me."
