In the Book of Mormon I read about how Ammon was able to teach King Lamoni all the things found in the Holy Scriptures, from the time of Adam down to the time Lehi had left Jerusalem.  Alma 18:36 "Now when Ammon had said these words, he began at the creation of the world, and also the creation of Adam, and told him all the things concerning the fall of man, and rehearsed and laid before him the records and the holy scriptures of the people, which had been spoken by the prophets, even down to the time that their father, Lehi, left Jerusalem."

In the Old Testament we read that a sinner must confess and make restitution to gain forgiveness.  Numbers 5:5-7 "And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to do a trespass against the Lord, and that person be guilty; Then they shall confess their sin which they have done: and he shall recompense his trespass with the principal thereof, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him against whom he hath trespassed."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us to purify our souls by obeying the truth and loving one another fervently with a pure heart.  1 Peter 1:22 "Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:"
