Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon I read that if we believe in the scriptures, we will believe in Jesus Christ.  They testify of Him!  Alma 33:14 "Now behold, my brethren, I would ask if ye have read the scriptures? If ye have, how can ye disbelieve on the Son of God?"

In the Old Testament we're told that if we keep the commandments of the Lord and listen to His judgments and do them, He will be merciful to us and keep His covenants with us.  He'll love us and bless us.  Deuteronomy 7:11-13 "Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them. Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the Lord thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers: And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us that we should be very careful about what we say.  The wrong words coming out of our mouths can cause much hurt and harm.  But good, edifying words, can encourage and lift others and do much good.  For good or ill, our words have an important impact on those who hear us--let's choose our words with the utmost care.  Ephesians 4:29 "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers."
