In the Book of Mormon I read that the people became proud and lifted up in their hearts because of their riches, and they refused to walk uprightly before God or listen to His servants. Riches can be more of a curse than a blessing if they cause a person to become prideful. Alma 45: 24 "But they grew proud, being lifted up in their hearts, because of their exceedingly great riches; therefore they grew rich in their own eyes, and would not give heed to their words, to walk uprightly before God."
In the Old Testament we read how Joshua blessed the people and told them to take diligent heed to do the commandments which Moses had given them, and to love and serve the Lord with all their hearts and souls. Joshua 22:5-6 "But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the Lord charged you, to love the Lord your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul. So Joshua blessed them, and sent them away: and they went unto their tents."
Some verses with a thought booklet tell us to trust in the Lord, delight in Him, and commit ourselves to Him, and He will make sure we have what we need, as well as the desires of our hearts. Psalms 37:3-5 "Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass."
