In the Book of Mormon we read that the people put themselves into dangerous circumstances by their own iniquity. When we don't keep the commandments, it puts us in peril. Alma 53:9 "And thus because of iniquity amongst themselves, yea, because of dissensions and intrigue among themselves they were placed in the most dangerous circumstances."
In the Old Testament I read about how after Gideon had conquered the Midianites, the children of Israel asked him to rule over them. But he refused, saying the Lord should rule over them. Judges 8:22-23 "Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son's son also: for thou hast delivered us from the hand of Midian. And Gideon said unto them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: the Lord shall rule over you."
A verse with a thought booklet tells us that gives us eternal life, that we shall never perish. And no one will be able to pluck us out of the Father's hands. We have a safe haven in Him! John 10:28 "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."
And it shall come to pass in the last days,when the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains....The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
