In the Book of Mormon we're told to come unto Christ and be saved. Unless we keep the commandments, there is no way we'll be able to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. 3 Nephi 12:20 "Therefore come unto me and be ye saved; for verily I say unto you, that except ye shall keep my commandments, which I have commanded you at this time, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven."
In the Old Testament we read about the reign of more wicked kings, including Baasha. Even though the Lord had exalted him out of the dust and made him a prince over Israel, he had chosen to sin and provoked the Lord to anger. 1 Kings 16:1-4 "Then the word of the Lord came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying, Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins; Behold, I will take away the posterity of Baasha, and the posterity of his house; and will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat. Him that dieth of Baasha in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth of his in the fields shall the fowls of the air eat."
A verse with a thought booklet reminds us that if we love the Lord, we will keep His commandments. John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments."
