Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon we read that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, so we can know that He will always be a God of miracles.  If we think that revelations, gifts, prophecies, healings and other miracles have been done away with, we are sorely mistaken. Just as the Lord performed this mighty miracles back in ancient days which we can read about in the scriptures, so will He perform these miracles in our day.  He does not change!     Mormon 9:  7-11 "And again I speak unto you who deny the revelations of God, and say that they are done away, that there are no revelations, nor prophecies, nor gifts, nor healing, nor speaking with tongues, and the interpretation of tongues; Behold I say unto you, he that denieth these things knoweth not the gospel of Christ; yea, he has not read the scriptures; if so, he does not understand them. For do we not read that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and in him there is no variableness neither shadow of changing? And now, if ye have imagined up unto yourselves a god who doth vary, and in whom there is shadow of changing, then have ye imagined up unto yourselves a god who is not a God of miracles. But behold, I will show unto you a God of miracles, even the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob; and it is that same God who created the heavens and the earth, and all things that in them are."

In the Old Testament we read about how Jehoiada makes a covenant that they would be the Lord's people and got rid of Baal worship out of the land.  What a wonderful thing this return to righteousness was!  2 Chronicles 23:16-17 "And Jehoiada made a covenant between him, and between all the people, and between the king, that they should be the Lord's people. Then all the people went to the house of Baal, and brake it down, and brake his altars and his images in pieces, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars."

In some verses with a thought booklet we read that the wicked need to forsake their evil ways and their unrighteous thoughts and return to the Lord, calling upon Him.  He will have mercy on them and abundantly pardon.  The Lord thoughts and ways are higher than ours.  Isaiah 55:6-9 "Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."
