Daily Thoughts

In the D&C we read that we should not fear man more than God or care more what men think of us than we do to keep the commandments of the Lord.  If we are faithful, the Lord will extend His arm to support us against all the fiery darts of the adversary and be with us in every time of trouble.  D&C 3:6-8 "And behold, how oft you have transgressed the commandments and the laws of God, and have gone on in the persuasions of men. For, behold, you should not have feared man more than God. Although men set at naught the counsels of God, and despise his words— Yet you should have been faithful; and he would have extended his arm and supported you against all the fiery darts of the adversary; and he would have been with you in every time of trouble."

In the Old Testament we read the Lord's words to Job as He asks him where he was when the foundations of the earth were laid and when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy.  Imagine that!  When the earth was created, we all witnessed it and shouted for joy!  Job 38:1-7 "Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.  Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?"

A verse with a thought booklet asks a powerful question--if God is for us, who can be against us?  This is something we can ask ourselves when we feel like everything is going wrong and everyone has turned against us. When we have a huge list of things piled against us and are feeling overwhelmed, what should be say to those things?  It's simple!  As long as we have the Lord on our side, what else really matters?  Romans 8: 31 "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?"
