Daily Thoughts

In the D&C we read that we must repent and be baptized, and then keep the commandments of God in all things. If we do this, we'll receive blessings above all things.  But after we've received these things, if we don't keep the commandments we will not be saved in the Kingdom of God.  D&C 18:42-46 "For all men must repent and be baptized, and not only men, but women, and children who have arrived at the years of accountability. And now, after that you have received this, you must keep my commandments in all things; And by your hands I will work a marvelous work among the children of men, unto the convincing of many of their sins, that they may come unto repentance, and that they may come unto the kingdom of my Father. Wherefore, the blessings which I give unto you are above all things. And after that you have received this, if you keep not my commandments you cannot be saved in the kingdom of my Father."

In the Old Testament we read that we should teach the law of the Lord to our children and show the next generation His wonderful works that He has done. Each generation should teach these things to their children so that a knowledge of God can be passed on and they will have hope in God, not forget His works, and keep His commandments.   Psalms 78:1-7 "Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:  Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.  We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.  For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:"

A verse with a thought booklet reminds us of the wonderful things God has prepared for us if we are righteous and love Him.  Our reward will be so great that not only have we never seen anything like it, or heard anything like it, but no mind has even conceived of it!  The world to come will be so magnificent, we cannot even imagine it.  1 Corinthians 2:9 "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."
