In the D&C we read that the songs of the heart delight the Lord and are a prayer unto Him. They will be answered with a blessing upon our heads. D&C 25:12 "For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me, and it shall be answered with a blessing upon their heads."
In the Old Testament we read a verse that would be a good one to memorize and say to ourselves when we're tempted to do something wrong or give in to peer pressure--firmly stating that we will keep the commandments of God and telling evildoers to depart from us. I don't know that it would be a great idea to state this out loud to the "evildoers" who might not appreciate being called such, but it's something we can say to ourselves when faced with temptation. And it is actually something we could say out loud to the TV set or the computer as we firmly turn it off! Psalms 119: 115 "Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God."
Some verses with a thought booklet tell us to put off our former selves which were corrupt with deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of our minds, putting on a new man which God created in righteousness and true holiness. When we turn our lives over to the Lord, we become whole new people! Ephesians 4:22-24 "That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness."
