Daily Thoughts

In the D&C we read that if we are to teach, we must teach by the Spirit.  And those who receive must receive by the Spirit.  If both the preacher and the receiver have the Spirit, learning will take place by the Spirit and there will be understanding and rejoicing.  If teaching or learning takes place in any other way, it is not of God. D&C 50:17-22 "Verily I say unto you, he that is ordained of me and sent forth to preach the word of truth by the Comforter, in the Spirit of truth, doth he preach it by the Spirit of truth or some other way? And if it be by some other way it is not of God. And again, he that receiveth the word of truth, doth he receive it by the Spirit of truth or some other way? If it be some other way it is not of God. Therefore, why is it that ye cannot understand and know, that he that receiveth the word by the Spirit of truth receiveth it as it is preached by the Spirit of truth?  Wherefore, he that preacheth and he that receiveth, understand one another, and both are edified and rejoice together."

In the Old Testament we read about how when the Lord comes again, the desert will blossom as a rose, the sick and afflicted will be healed, and there will be singing and rejoicing.  What a glorious day that will be!  Isaiah 35:1, 5-6, 10 "The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away."

In a verse with a thought booklet we read that we will be blessed if we put our trust in the Lord rather than on proud men who lie to us.  When we place our trust in God, He will not let us down. Psalms 40: 4 "Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies."
