In the D&C we read that we need to be patient in tribulation until the Lord comes. He comes quickly and will reward those who have sought Him early. They will find rest to their souls. D&C 54:10 "And again, be patient in tribulation until I come; and, behold, I come quickly, and my reward is with me, and they who have sought me early shall find rest to their souls. Even so. Amen."
In the Old Testament we read a prophetic verse that talks about how Jesus would give His back to the smiters and would be put to shame and spit upon. This was foretold hundreds of years before it happened. Isaiah 50:6 "I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting."
A verse with a thought booklet tells us that we need to be at peace with all men, and practice holiness, or we cannot expect to see the Lord. Do we have grudges against others? Do we have bitterness, anger, or hatred in our hearts? Unless we rid ourselves of things things and make peace with our fellowmen, it will separate us from the Lord. If we truly love the Lord, we need to find a way to let go of our bitter feelings toward others. As we're able to forgive, joy will fill our hearts. Hebrews 12: 14 " Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:"
