Daily Thoughts

In the D&C we read that when Christ comes again, those who are wise and prepared for Him will be like the wise virgins in the parable of the wise and foolish virgins.  They have taken the Holy Spirit for their guide and have not been deceived, and they will not be hewn down and cast into the fire, but rather they will receive their inheritance.  D&C 45:56-59 "And at that day, when I shall come in my glory, shall the parable be fulfilled which I spake concerning the ten virgins. For they that are wise and have received the truth, and have taken the Holy Spirit for their guide, and have not been deceived—verily I say unto you, they shall not be hewn down and cast into the fire, but shall abide the day. And the earth shall be given unto them for an inheritance; and they shall multiply and wax strong, and their children shall grow up without sin unto salvation. For the Lord shall be in their midst, and his glory shall be upon them, and he will be their king and their lawgiver."

In the Old Testament we read that because men have broken their everlasting covenants and transgressed the laws of God, the earth will be cursed and be made desolate.  The inhabitants of the earth will be burned and few men will be left.  There are consequences to breaking the commandments of God!  Isaiah 24:5-6 "The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left."

In some verses with a thought booklet we read that when our souls faint with hunger and thirst we can cry unto the Lord in our troubles and He will deliver us from our distress.  He will lead us in the right way and satisfy our longing soul, filling our hungry soul with goodness.  Indeed, the Lord is greatly to be praised.  Psalms 107:5-9 "Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses. And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation. Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness."
