Daily Thoughts
In the D&C we read that we're commanded to continue in fasting and prayer and to teach others the doctrines of the Kingdom. If we diligently teach others, the Lord's grace will attend us. D&C 88: 76-78 "Also, I give unto you a commandment that ye shall continue in prayer and fasting from this time forth. And I give unto you a commandment that you shall teach one another the doctrine of the kingdom. Teach ye diligently and my grace shall attend you, that you may be instructed more perfectly in theory, in principle, in doctrine, in the law of the gospel, in all things that pertain unto the kingdom of God, that are expedient for you to understand;"
In the Old Testament we read that when a watchman is set to keep watch over a city, he is responsible to raise the warning voice if he sees enemies coming to attack. If he raises his voice in warning and people ignore him, their blood will be on their own heads. But if he doesn't do his job of providing warning, their blood will be on his head. So likewise is this true of those the Lord has called to raise a voice of spiritual warning when people are in need of repentance. Ezekiel 33: 1-9 "Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman: If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people; Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul. But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand. So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me. When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul."
Some verses with a thought booklet tell us that the Lord had had all He could take of murmurers! In fact, He threatened to have all their carcases fall in the wilderness. The Lord is very displeased when we grumble and complain. And other people don't like to be around us either! In fact, when we murmur it makes us unhappy, as well as everyone around us. See if you can look for the good, the positive, in your life today, and stop complaining! Numbers 14:26-29 "And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me. Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the Lord, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me,"
