Daily Thoughts

In the D&C we read that when Christ comes, the righteous who are still alive will be caught up to meet him and the righteous dead will be resurrected and caught up to meet Him.  What a glorious day that will be! If we're righteous, it won't matter if we're alive or dead, the result will be the same--we'll be caught up to meet the Lord.   D&C 88:96-97 "And the saints that are upon the earth, who are alive, shall be quickened and be caught up to meet him. And they who have slept in their graves shall come forth, for their graves shall be opened; and they also shall be caught up to meet him in the midst of the pillar of heaven—"

In the Old Testament we read that the Lord can make is clean from all our filthiness.  He can give us a new heart to replace our stony one and put a new spirit within us, so that we can walk in His statutes and keep His commandments. If we're having trouble doing what's right, we need to turn ourselves over to the Lord and allow Him to change us and help us make our hearts right.  Ezekiel 36:25-27 "Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them."

In some verses with a thought booklet we read about how Amaziah came from the slaughter of the Edomites and brought their gods with him to be his gods.  He bowed himself down before them and burned incense unto them.  Of course this made the Lord angry and he sent a prophet to him to ask him why on earth he'd do such a stupid thing--worship gods who were so powerless that they couldn't deliver the people who had fallen by Amaziah's hand. Aren't people silly sometimes in their ridiculous sins?  2 Chronicles 25:14-15 "Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them. Wherefore the anger of the Lord was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thine hand?"
