Daily Thoughts
In the D&C we read that the Lord chastens and rebukes those He loves, preparing the way for them to be delivered out of temptation. D&C 95:1-2 "Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you whom I love, and whom I love I also chasten that their sins may be forgiven, for with the chastisement I prepare a way for their deliverance in all things out of temptation, and I have loved you— Wherefore, ye must needs be chastened and stand rebuked before my face;"
In the Old Testament we read how Daniel tried to call Nebuchadnezzar to repentance--telling him to break off his sins by living righteously and getting rid of his iniquity by showing mercy to the poor. We could all benefit by taking this advice. Daniel 4:27 "Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity."
Some scriptures with a thought booklet tell the story of the man who came to Jesus wanting his son healed and Jesus told him that all things are possible to those who believe. The man answers that he believes, and then asked Jesus to help his unbelief. I think we can all relate to this man at times. We do believe, but sometimes our faith just doesn't seem strong enough. It's times like this that we, too, can pray and ask the Lord to help our unbelief. Because with faith, nothing is impossible! Mark 9:23-24 "Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief."
