Daily Thoughts
In the D&C the Lord tells us that if we observe to do whatever He commands us, His wrath will be turned away from us and the gates of hell will not prevail against us. D&C 98:22 "And again I say unto you, if ye observe to do whatsoever I command you, I, the Lord, will turn away all wrath and indignation from you, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against you."
In the Old Testament we read that the day of the Lord will be great and terrible. The earth will quake and the heavens will tremble, and the sun and moon will be dark and the stars will stop shining. Who will be able to abide this day? Those who repent with all their hearts and turn unto the Lord. He is gracious, merciful, and kind. Joel 2:10-13 "The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: And the Lord shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the Lord is great and very terrible; and who can abide it? Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil."
A verse with a thought booklet tells us that we need to guard our hearts with all diligence because everything else flows from it. As we think, so are we. Proverbs 4: 23 "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life."
