Daily Thoughts

In the D&C we read that Joseph Smith was the presiding elder over the entire church and was a translator, revelator, seer and prophet.  D&C 124:125 "I give unto you my servant Joseph to be a presiding elder over all my church, to be a translator, a revelator, a seer, and prophet."

In the New Testament we read a verse that tells us we need to be watchful and pray in order to withstand temptation because even though the spirit may be wiling, the flesh is weak.  We all need to turn to the Lord for help, as well as putting forth our own best efforts.  Matthew 26:41 "Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us not to be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ because it is the power of God unto salvation to all who believe.  Do we sometimes prefer to be quiet about our being followers of Jesus Christ?  Do we feel uncomfortable standing out in support of the principles of the gospel, which may not be very popular in today's world?  What do we have to be ashamed of?  The gospel is the power of God unto salvation!  This is nothing to be ashamed of!  Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."
