Daily Thoughts
In the P of GP we read that Adam and Eve tried to teach their children the things of God, but Satan told them to believe it not. Many of them loved Satan more than God and became carnal, sensual and devilish. Through the Holy Ghost, God called upon men to repent of their sins. As many as would believe in the Son and repent were saved. But those who refused to believe or repent, were damned. The choice is ours. Moses 5:12-15 "And Adam and Eve blessed the name of God, and they made all things known unto their sons and their daughters. And Satan came among them, saying: I am also a son of God; and he commanded them, saying: Believe it not; and they believed it not, and they loved Satan more than God. And men began from that time forth to be carnal, sensual, and devilish. And the Lord God called upon men by the Holy Ghost everywhere and commanded them that they should repent; And as many as believed in the Son, and repented of their sins, should be saved; and as many as believed not and repented not, should be damned; and the words went forth out of the mouth of God in a firm decree; wherefore they must be fulfilled."
In the New Testament we read that just as Jesus was taken up into heaven after His resurrection, so will He in like manner come down from the heavens when He returns. This will happen and we can be certain of it. Acts 1:11 "Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."
A verse with a thought booklet reminds us to always give thanks unto God for everything. It's interesting that we're supposed to give thanks for everything, not just our blessings or the good things in our lives, but EVERYthing! It's not so easy to be thankful for illness or a lost job or financial woes. But each of our experiences, whether good of bad, teach us something we need to learn and make us better people as we live through them and learn to deal with them. And as we learn to be thankful and look for things to be thankful for even in our difficult circumstances, we can find joy even during our trials. Ephesians 5:20 "Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;"
