Daily Thoughts
In the P of GP we read that Noah was pained by the wickedness of men and it grieved his heart. Noah was righteous and found grace i the eyes of the Lord, but the rest of the world was corrupt before God, filled with violence and evil. God told Noah that He would destroy all flesh from off the earth. Moses 8:25-30 "And it repented Noah, and his heart was pained that the Lord had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at the heart. And the Lord said: I will destroy man whom I have created, from the face of the earth, both man and beast, and the creeping things, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth Noah that I have created them, and that I have made them; and he hath called upon me; for they have sought his life. And thus Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord; for Noah was a just man, and perfect in his generation; and he walked with God, as did also his three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. The earth was corrupt before God, and it was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah: The end of all flesh is come before me, for the earth is filled with violence, and behold I will destroy all flesh from off the earth."
In the New Testament we read about how Paul was able to heal the sick by praying for them and laying hands on them. Even so today the Priesthood is upon the earth and great healings can take place through prayer and Priesthood blessings. Acts 28:8-9 "And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him. So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:"
Some scriptures with a thought booklet tell us that God is good to those who have a clean heart. But hen it mentions that we can almost slip and fall if we become envious of the foolish or the prosperity of the wicked. Sometimes life doesn't seem fair. Why is it that sometimes evil people seem to have all the money and only good things happen to them, while some good people seem to suffer one trial after another? But if we continually turn to God He will be there for us and hold us by the hand. He will guide us and counsel us and eventually we'll receive glory in heaven. Those who stray far from God will perish, but if we draw near to Him and put our trust in Him, it will be well with us. Even if this life doesn't seem fair, we need to remember that this life is not the end. In the next life, everyone will receive their just reward, or punishment, and if we stay true to the Lord, it will all be worth it. Psalms 73:1-3, 21-28 "Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart. But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped. For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins. So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee. Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee. But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works."
