In the Book of Mormon we read that after Lehi had this marvelous vision, he went forth among the people and preached repentance unto them, and taught them about the coming Messiah. However, because of their wickedness they refused to believe him and were angry with him. They mocked him and sought to take away his life, just as they cast out and stoned prophets in previous times. However, the Lord is merciful to those He has chosen and because of their faith, He can make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance. 1 Nephi 1: 18-20 "Therefore, I would that ye should know, that after the Lord had shown so many marvelous things unto my father, Lehi, yea, concerning the destruction of Jerusalem, behold he went forth among the people, and began to prophesy and to declare unto them concerning the things which he had both seen and heard. And it came to pass that the Jews did mock him because of the things which he testified of them; for he truly testified of their wickedness and their abominations; and he testified that the things which he saw and heard, and also the things which he read in the book, manifested plainly of the coming of a Messiah, and also the redemption of the world. And when the Jews heard these things they were angry with him; yea, even as with the prophets of old, whom they had cast out, and stoned, and slain; and they also sought his life, that they might take it away. But behold, I, Nephi, will show unto you that the tender mercies of the Lord are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance."
In the Old Testament we read that after God created the heavens and the earth and everything in them, He rested on the seventh day, and blessed and sanctified that day. This was the beginning of the Sabbath Day, and we are still commanded to rest from our labors on that day, and to use it as a day to draw closer to the Lord. Genesis 2:1-3 "Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made."
Some verses with a thought booklet tel us not to take advantage of others, but to reverence God and keep His statures and judgments. If we're buying or selling something, we need to be fair to the other person. Instead of thinking of our own selfish needs and how much money we can get for something we're selling, or how cheaply we can get something we're buying, we need to make sure that the other person doesn't get cheated in the process. Leviticus 25:14, 17-18 "And if thou sell ought unto thy neighbour, or buyest ought of thy neighbour's hand, ye shall not oppress one another: Ye shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God: for I am the Lord your God. Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety."
