In the first verse of the Book of Mormon we read some important insights. Being born of goodly parents is a tremendous blessing. They teach us and guide us. But even righteous people can suffer many afflictions during the course of their days. However, the Lord will still be with them and help them through whatever they need to go through. It's important to record our experiences so that others may learn from them. 1 Nephi 1:1 "I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents, therefore I was taught somewhat in all the learning of my father; and having seen many afflictions in the course of my days, nevertheless, having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days; yea, having had a great knowledge of the goodness and the mysteries of God, therefore I make a record of my proceedings in my days."
In the New Testament we read about the great sins and wickedness of Babylon and how the saints are called to come out of Babylon lest they partake of its iniquity. Revelation 18:1-5 "And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.:
A verse with a thought booklet gives us the last words Jesus said in mortality. He told His Father that into His hands He commended His spirit. He died with confidence in God, placing all His trust in Him. We can live and die the same way if we'll have faith and trust in our Heavenly Father and be willing to place ourselves in His hands. Luke 23:46 "And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost."
