Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon we read that Nephi saw Jesus going forth among men and teaching them.  He hen saw that the rod of iron represented the word of God which leads to the tree of life, which represents the love of God.  1 Nephi 11:23-25 "And he spake unto me, saying: Yea, and the most joyous to the soul. And after he had said these words, he said unto me: Look! And I looked, and I beheld the Son of God going forth among the children of men; and I saw many fall down at his feet and worship him. And it came to pass that I beheld that the rod of iron, which my father had seen, was the word of God, which led to the fountain of living waters, or to the tree of life; which waters are a representation of the love of God; and I also beheld that the tree of life was a representation of the love of God."

In the Old Testament we read, not surprisingly, that after the children of Israel had departed, Pharaoh had second thoughts and regretted letting them go.  He then pursued them with 600 chariots. Time and time again Pharaoh was humbled by the signs from the Lord, but after some time had passed, he again hardened his heart. How soon he forgot. Nothing seemed to make a lasting impact on him. How quick are we to turn to the Lord in times of trouble, but then forget about him after the crisis has passed?  Exodus 14:5-7 "And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?  And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:  And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them."

Some verses with a thought booklet tell us how to withstand Satan's temptations.  We do it by being strong in the Lord and putting on His whole armor.  If we allow the Lord to help us, we will not fall.  Ephesians 6:10-11 "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."
