In the Book of Mormon we read Nephi's explanation of the river of water his father saw in his dream. He said it represented filthiness and that it separated the wicked from the tree of life and also from the saints f God. He said it represented the awful hell which is prepared for the wicked. 1 Nephi 15:26-29 "And they said unto me: What meaneth the river of water which our father saw? And I said unto them that the water which my father saw was filthiness; and so much was his mind swallowed up in other things that he beheld not the filthiness of the water. And I said unto them that it was an awful gulf, which separated the wicked from the tree of life, and also from the saints of God. And I said unto them that it was a representation of that awful hell, which the angel said unto me was prepared for the wicked."
In the Old Testament we read that Moses and Aaron blessed the people and the glory of the Lord appeared to all of them. Fire came out from the Lord and consumed the burnt offerings on the altar. The people shouted and fell on their faces. Leviticus 9:23-24 "And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of the congregation, and came out, and blessed the people: and the glory of the Lord appeared unto all the people. And there came a fire out from before the Lord, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces."
A verse with a thought booklet tells us that there is no fear in love, and perfect love casts out fear. The story is told of a lady trying to train her 3 month old puppy to walk on a leash. As they walked down the sreet, a plastic grocery bag was blowing in the breeze toward them. The puppy barked and growled at this "monster" coming at him but it continued to come anyway and blew right on him, covering all four pounds of him. When she lifted the bag off, she found him shivering in fear. She scooped him up into her arms, comforting him the way our Heavenly father comforts us when we are afraid or feel threatened by a real or imagined enemy. God's love quiets our fears and gives us confidence to continue on. 1 John 4:18 "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love."
