Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon we read that the Lord commanded Nephi to build a ship to sail to the promised land.  Nephi inquired about where he could find ore to make tools and the Lord told him. The Lord also told him that if he would keep the commandments, he would be lead to the promised land and would be delivered from destruction.  So Nephi did strive to keep the commandments of God and tried to exhort his brothers to be diligent and faithful also.  1 Nephi 17:7-15"And it came to pass that after I, Nephi, had been in the land of Bountiful for the space of many days, the voice of the Lord came unto me, saying: Arise, and get thee into the mountain. And it came to pass that I arose and went up into the mountain, and cried unto the Lord. And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto me, saying: Thou shalt construct a ship, after the manner which I shall show thee, that I may carry thy people across these waters. And I said: Lord, whither shall I go that I may find ore to molten, that I may make tools to construct the ship after the manner which thou hast shown unto me?  And it came to pass that the Lord told me whither I should go to find ore, that I might make tools.  And it came to pass that I, Nephi, did make a bellows wherewith to blow the fire, of the skins of beasts; and after I had made a bellows, that I might have wherewith to blow the fire, I did smite two stones together that I might make fire. For the Lord had not hitherto suffered that we should make much fire, as we journeyed in the wilderness; for he said: I will make thy food become sweet, that ye cook it not;  And I will also be your light in the wilderness; and I will prepare the way before you, if it so be that ye shall keep my commandments; wherefore, inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments ye shall be led towards the promised land; and ye shall know that it is by me that ye are led.  Yea, and the Lord said also that: After ye have arrived in the promised land, ye shall know that I, the Lord, am God; and that I, the Lord, did deliver you from destruction; yea, that I did bring you out of the land of Jerusalem. Wherefore, I, Nephi, did strive to keep the commandments of the Lord, and I did exhort my brethren to faithfulness and diligence."

In the Old Testament we read another reminder that we should keep the Sabbath Day holy.  We should work six days and rest the seventh.  Leviticus 23:3 "Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings."

Some verses with a thought booklet that we need not fear, for the Lord will be with us, just like He went before the Israelites in the wilderness and He fought for them and did mighty miracles for them in Egypt.  When the Lord is with us, we have no need to fear.  Deuteronomy 1:29-31 "Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.  The Lord your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes; And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the Lord thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place."
