In the Book of Mormon we read a reminder of the covenants tat the Lord made with Israel. The Lord has spoken to them through His prophets all down through the ages and would continue to do. They would be restored to the true church and gathered home to the lands of their inheritance. They could life up their heads and rejoice because of the great blessings that the Lord would bestow upon them and their children. 2 Nephi 9:1-3 "And now, my beloved brethren, I have read these things that ye might know concerning the covenants of the Lord that he has covenanted with all the house of Israel— That he has spoken unto the Jews, by the mouth of his holy prophets, even from the beginning down, from generation to generation, until the time comes that they shall be restored to the true church and fold of God; when they shall be gathered home to the lands of their inheritance, and shall be established in all their lands of promise. Behold, my beloved brethren, I speak unto you these things that ye may rejoice, and lift up your heads forever, because of the blessings which the Lord God shall bestow upon your children."
In the Old Testament we read that every good thing that the Lord had promised the house of Israel came to pass. When the Lord tells us He's going to do something, we can absolutely count on it! He keeps His word. Joshua 21:45 "There failed not ought of any good thing which the Lord had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass."
A verse with a thought booklet tells us that when iniquity abounds, love often waxes cold. A wicked person is often lacking in love, both love for other people and love for God. The greatest commandment is to love God and our fellowmen. Matthew 24:12 "And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold."
