Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon we read that we are reconciled unto God through the atonement of Jesus Christ, His Only Begotten Son. We can be resurrected because He was resurrected. God spoke these things to the prophets and speaks them to us through the manifestation of the Spirit.   Jacob 4:11-13 "Wherefore, beloved brethren, be reconciled unto him through the atonement of Christ, his Only Begotten Son, and ye may obtain a resurrection, according to the power of the resurrection which is in Christ, and be presented as the first-fruits of Christ unto God, having faith, and obtained a good hope of glory in him before he manifesteth himself in the flesh. And now, beloved, marvel not that I tell you these things; for why not speak of the atonement of Christ, and attain to a perfect knowledge of him, as to attain to the knowledge of a resurrection and the world to come? Behold, my brethren, he that prophesieth, let him prophesy to the understanding of men; for the Spirit speaketh the truth and lieth not. Wherefore, it speaketh of things as they really are, and of things as they really will be; wherefore, these things are manifested unto us plainly, for the salvation of our souls. But behold, we are not witnesses alone in these things; for God also spake them unto prophets of old."

In the Old Testament we read that when David was old he made his son Solomon king over Israel.   1 Chronicles 23:1 "So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel."

Some scriptures with a thought booklet talk about not ceasing to pray that we might be filled with the knowledge of the Lord's will, and be given wisdom and spiritual understanding.  This enables us to walk worthily in a way that is pleasing unto God, being fruitful in good works and increasing in the knowledge of God. God has the power to strengthen us, so that we can live the kind of lives that will be pleasing unto Him.  Colossians 1:9-11 "For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;  That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;  Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;"
