Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon we read about how the plates were handed down from generation to generation until they came into the hands of Mormon who prayed that they would be preserved.  Words of Mormon 1:9-11 "And now I, Mormon, proceed to finish out my record, which I take from the plates of Nephi; and I make it according to the knowledge and the understanding which God has given me.  Wherefore, it came to pass that after Amaleki had delivered up these plates into the hands of king Benjamin, he took them and put them with the other plates, which contained records which had been handed down by the kings, from generation to generation until the days of king Benjamin.  And they were handed down from king Benjamin, from generation to generation until they have fallen into my hands. And I, Mormon, pray to God that they may be preserved from this time henceforth. And I know that they will be preserved; for there are great things written upon them, out of which my people and their brethren shall be judged at the great and last day, according to the word of God which is written."

In the Old Testament we read that the people covenanted to keep the commandments of the Lord which were given by Moses, to not marry outside the faith, and to keep the Sabbath day holy. Nehemiah 10:29-31 "They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God's law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;  And that we would not give our daughters unto the people of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons:  And if the people of the land bring ware or any victuals on the sabbath day to sell, that we would not buy it of them on the sabbath, or on the holy day: and that we would leave the seventh year, and the exaction of every debt."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us to hear what the Lord will speak, for He will speak peace to His people, to the faithful who turn their hearts to Him and who do not sin.  Psalms 85:8 "I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly."
