In the Book of Mormon we read that Limhi explained to Ammon that his people were in bondage to the Lamanites and were taxed with grievous taxes. He expressed hope that Ammon and his people could help them, and offered that they would becom their slaves. He told Ammon to go get the people who had come with him and bring them into the city. Mosiah 7:15-16 "For behold, we are in bondage to the Lamanites, and are taxed with a tax which is grievous to be borne. And now, behold, our brethren will deliver us out of our bondage, or out of the hands of the Lamanites, and we will be their slaves; for it is better that we be slaves to the Nephites than to pay tribute to the king of the Lamanites. And now, king Limhi commanded his guards that they should no more bind Ammon nor his brethren, but caused that they should go to the hill which was north of Shilom, and bring their brethren into the city, that thereby they might eat, and drink, and rest themselves from the labors of their journey; for they had suffered many things; they had suffered hunger, thirst, and fatigue."
In the Old Testament we read about how powerful the Lord is and how puny men's weapons would be against Him. He is King over all prideful men. Job 41:26-34 "The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon. He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood. The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble. Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear. Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire. He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment. He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary. Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear. He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride."
A verse with a thought booklet tells us that the Lord is not far from any of us and if we seek Him and feel after Him, we will find Him. Acts 17:27 "That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:"
