In the Book of Mormon we read that King Noah built a great tower and many buildings with the money he got by excessively taxing the people. He and his priests set their hearts on the riches of the world and spent their time in riotous living with their wives and concubines and harlots. He also built wine presses and made a great abundance of wine to drink. Mosiah 11:12-15 "And it came to pass that he built a tower near the temple; yea, a very high tower, even so high that he could stand upon the top thereof and overlook the land of Shilom, and also the land of Shemlon, which was possessed by the Lamanites; and he could even look over all the land round about. And it came to pass that he caused many buildings to be built in the land Shilom; and he caused a great tower to be built on the hill north of the land Shilom, which had been a resort for the children of Nephi at the time they fled out of the land; and thus he did do with the riches which he obtained by the taxation of his people. And it came to pass that he placed his heart upon his riches, and he spent his time in riotous living with his wives and his concubines; and so did also his priests spend their time with harlots. And it came to pass that he planted vineyards round about in the land; and he built wine-presses, and made wine in abundance; and therefore he became a wine-bibber, and also his people."
In the Old Testament we read that the souls of the righteous thirst for God, but the wicked say "Where is your God?" Psalms 42:1-3 "As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?"
Some scriptures with a thought booklet tell us that above all else, we should have charity, using hospitality among ourselves without being grudging about it. Do we really love each other and have a desire to help and give to others because of the love in our hearts? 1 Peter 4:8-9 "And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. Use hospitality one to another without grudging."
