Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon we read that the people were to give to those in need according to what they had to give. They gave to one another, both temporally and spiritually according to their needs and wants.  Mosiah 18:27-29 "And again Alma commanded that the people of the church should impart of their substance, every one according to that which he had; if he have more abundantly he should impart more abundantly; and of him that had but little, but little should be required; and to him that had not should be given.  And thus they should impart of their substance of their own free will and good desires towards God, and to those priests that stood in need, yea, and to every needy, naked soul.  And this he said unto them, having been commanded of God; and they did walk uprightly before God, imparting to one another both temporally and spiritually according to their needs and their wants."

In the Old Testament we're told to give thanks unto the Lord, who is merciful and full of wisdom and goodness. He created the earth and all things thereon. He smote the Egyptians and brought Israel out from among them. He parted the Red Sea and lead His people through the wilderness.  Psalms 136:1-16 "O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.  O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.  O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.  To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever. To him that by wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth for ever.  To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for his mercy endureth for ever.  To him that made great lights: for his mercy endureth for ever:  The sun to rule by day: for his mercy endureth for ever:  The moon and stars to rule by night: for his mercy endureth for ever.  To him that smote Egypt in their firstborn: for his mercy endureth for ever:  And brought out Israel from among them: for his mercy endureth for ever:  With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm: for his mercy endureth for ever.  To him which divided the Red sea into parts: for his mercy endureth for ever:  And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: for his mercy endureth for ever:  But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red sea: for his mercy endureth for ever.  To him which led his people through the wilderness: for his mercy endureth for ever."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us that Jesus is the Light of the world and if we follow Him, we will not walk in darkness but have the light of life.  Matthew 8:12 "But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
