Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon we read that Abinidi taught that God Himself would come down and redeem His people. He would be subject unto flesh and would do the will of the Father. Christ is both the Father and the Son. He would suffer temptation but not yield to it. He would be mocked and scourged and cast out.  Mosiah 15:1-5 "And now Abinadi said unto them: I would that ye should understand that God himself shall come down among the children of men, and shall redeem his people.  And because he dwelleth in flesh he shall be called the Son of God, and having subjected the flesh to the will of the Father, being the Father and the Son— The Father, because he was conceived by the power of God; and the Son, because of the flesh; thus becoming the Father and Son— And they are one God, yea, the very Eternal Father of heaven and of earth.  And thus the flesh becoming subject to the Spirit, or the Son to the Father, being one God, suffereth temptation, and yieldeth not to the temptation, but suffereth himself to be mocked, and scourged, and cast out, and disowned by his people."

In the Old Testament we read that the Lord blesses those who trust in Him and He will withhold no good thing from those who walk uprightly.  Psalms 84:11-12 "For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee."

A verse with a thought booklet is a good one to read if we're depressed or downcast. Why should we feel that way when we have hope in God?  Instead of worrying needlessly over things we have no control over, we can turn them over to God and trust that He will help us through whatever comes our way. Psalms 43:5 "Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God."
