Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon we read that some of the daughters of the Lamanites were singing and dancing. The priests of Noah saw them and took 24 of them away into the wilderness with them. The Lamanites blamed the people of Limhi and went forth to destroy them.  Mosiah 20:1-7 " Now there was a place in Shemlon where the daughters of the Lamanites did gather themselves together to sing, and to dance, and to make themselves merry. And it came to pass that there was one day a small number of them gathered together to sing and to dance. And now the priests of king Noah, being ashamed to return to the city of Nephi, yea, and also fearing that the people would slay them, therefore they durst not return to their wives and their children. And having tarried in the wilderness, and having discovered the daughters of the Lamanites, they laid and watched them;  And when there were but few of them gathered together to dance, they came forth out of their secret places and took them and carried them into the wilderness; yea, twenty and four of the daughters of the Lamanites they carried into the wilderness. And it came to pass that when the Lamanites found that their daughters had been missing, they were angry with the people of Limhi, for they thought it was the people of Limhi. Therefore they sent their armies forth; yea, even the king himself went before his people; and they went up to the land of Nephi to destroy the people of Limhi."

In the Old Testament we read that wisdom and understanding are worth more than silver and gold, more precious than rubies, and when we find them we will find happiness.  Proverbs 3:13-15 "Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.  For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.  She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us not to be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation.  What a wonderful thing that is!  And w should be proud to proclaim it to anyone willing to listen. So the next time you're tempted to hide your beliefs so as not to stand out in the crowd, ask yourself why you're acting ashamed of something that can bring salvation to the world?  Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."
