Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon we read that peace was again established in the land and the people began to spread out. The Lord prospered them and they became wealthy. One of the sons of Alma and the sons of Mosiah became wicked and spoke flattering words to the people to lead them astray. They became a hindrance to the church of God, stealing the hearts of the people and causing much dissension. They went about seeking to destroy the church.  Mosiah 27:6-10 "And there began to be much peace again in the land; and the people began to be very numerous, and began to scatter abroad upon the face of the earth, yea, on the north and on the south, on the east and on the west, building large cities and villages in all quarters of the land. And the Lord did visit them and prosper them, and they became a large and wealthy people.  Now the sons of Mosiah were numbered among the unbelievers; and also one of the sons of Alma was numbered among them, he being called Alma, after his father; nevertheless, he became a very wicked and an idolatrous man. And he was a man of many words, and did speak much flattery to the people; therefore he led many of the people to do after the manner of his iniquities. And he became a great hinderment to the prosperity of the church of God; stealing away the hearts of the people; causing much dissension among the people; giving a chance for the enemy of God to exercise his power over them.  And now it came to pass that while he was going about to destroy the church of God, for he did go about secretly with the sons of Mosiah seeking to destroy the church, and to lead astray the people of the Lord, contrary to the commandments of God, or even the king—"

In the Old Testament we read that in the day of judgment our countenances will witness against us and we will not be able to hide our sins.  It will be well with the righteous who will be rewarded for the fruit of their doings.  But it will be ill with the wicked who will reap what they have sown.  Isaiah 3:9-11 "The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.  Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.  Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us that the Lord will take us by the hand and tell us we have no need to fear, for He will help us. Even when our days may seem the darkest, they will get better because God is always near. No matter what challenges we are facing, God will give us strength.  And even our most difficult situations can turn into blessings. What a comfort that is!  Isaiah 41:13 "For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee."
