Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon we read that the Nephites had peace for three years and Alma and Amulek preached repentance unto the people and the church was established throughout the land. The Lord poured out His Spirit on all the face of the land, preparing the hearts of the people to receive the Word of God so that they could enter into His rest.  Alma 16:12-17  "And the Lamanites did not come again to war against the Nephites until the fourteenth year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi. And thus for three years did the people of Nephi have continual peace in all the land.  And Alma and Amulek went forth preaching repentance to the people in their temples, and in their sanctuaries, and also in their synagogues, which were built after the manner of the Jews. And as many as would hear their words, unto them they did impart the word of God, without any respect of persons, continually.  And thus did Alma and Amulek go forth, and also many more who had been chosen for the work, to preach the word throughout all the land. And the establishment of the church became general throughout the land, in all the region round about, among all the people of the Nephites.  And there was no inequality among them; the Lord did pour out his Spirit on all the face of the land to prepare the minds of the children of men, or to prepare their hearts to receive the word which should be taught among them at the time of his coming—  That they might not be hardened against the word, that they might not be unbelieving, and go on to destruction, but that they might receive the word with joy, and as a branch be grafted into the true vine, that they might enter into the rest of the Lord their God."

In the Old Testament we read that the Lord will make His holy name known among the people of Israel and the heathen shall know that He is the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.  Ezekiel 39:7 "So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel."

Some scriptures with a thought booklet tell us that when we cry unto the Lord, He will answer us. When we seek His face, will will find Him. He will help us and never leave us nor forsake us. Even if our earthly parents forsake us, the Lord never will.  Psalms 27:7-10 "Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me. When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.  Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.  When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up."
